Pastor - Steven Barber

Steven has been with Riverside now for 14 years. He grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and graduated from Bryan College. He has degrees from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He has been married to his beautiful wife Ann for 18 years and loves being a dad to Ellie, Luke, Andrew, Abigail, Will, and Ben. He has a passion to teach God’s Word and encourage people to wholehearted devotion to Christ.

Elder - Charlie Rhodes

Charlie has been a member of Riverside Community Church and an elder for twelve years. He is the husband of Elizabeth Rhodes, father to four girls, and grandfather to 10 adorable grandchildren.  He is the retired District Attorney of Jackson County, and spends his time now serving his family and church. He also teaches one of our adult Sunday school classes every Sunday morning.

Elder - Mike Ferry

Mike has now been a member of Riverside Community Church for 13 years and an elder of the church for the past eight.  He is married to Anita Ferry, has one adult son, and is President of a local company.  Because Mike has a burden to see community grow in the church, he heads up our Community Group ministry here at Riverside.

Elder - Scott Parr

Scott became both an elder and member of Riverside Community Church when it started in 2007.  He is the husband of Metta Parr and father to Arlen Parr.  He works as a Senior Manager for West Rock.  Scott also works closely with our youth in the church, specifically teaching on Wednesday nights.

Elder - Mike Bratton

Mike has been an instrumental servant since the beginning of Riverside.  He serves as an elder and has been involved in many different ministry areas over the past 14 years. He is also a loving husband to Mary Bratton, father to his two adult children, and grandfather to four. He is the owner of Tennessee River Steel, here in town.

Children's Director - Lanna Janzen

Lanna has been a member of Riverside since 2007 and joined the staff as our Children's Director in 2009. Lanna has a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Education. She has served in children's ministry her entire adult life, and also serve in music ministry. Lanna is married to Greg, has two adult children, and one precious grandson. Our children love Lanna, and we are grateful for all the hard work she puts in at Riverside. 

Worship Leader - Mike Roney

Mike has been a gifted musician his entire life.  After conversion, he had a strong desire to use his music for the glory of God.  As a result, God has opened up doors for many ministry opportunities to share the Gospel through song, including leading worship with Celebrate Recovery for the past ten years. Mike has now been at Riverside for almost 10 years. He’s been married to JoLynn for 30 years, and he is a loving father and grandfather.

Deacon - Jerry Pierce

Jerry, a local doctor in town, has been a member of Riverside Community Church since it began in 2007. He became a deacon of the church about 12 years ago.  Jerry, along with his wife Leslie, leads our children’s Sunday School class each week. Jerry is the father of three children and grandfather to six. He was also instrumental in beginning the local pregnancy center in Scottsboro.

Deacon - Stan Gross

Stan has been a member of Riverside Community Church since it began and has been a deacon of the church for about 12 years. He is husband to his lovely wife Alice, and they have two adult children. Stan is well known for his taxidermy business in Hollywood, AL.  He leads one of our weekly community groups, teaches our youth on Sunday mornings, and is quick to serve in whatever capacity is needed.
